Lady Inez

This was great fun to paint. After i printed it up, Andrea said "make the hair pink!". So ... pink it is. I designed the remainder of the color scheme around that.

I also decided to try something new this time. I did a black primer, then a zenithal spray with the airbrush. I took a photo, and then brought it into a paint program, and digitally tried out various colors (just using a simple paintbrush with semi-transparency). It really helped me to play around until i got something i liked.

Once that was done, i grabbed a piece of paper and figured out how to take the paint colors i actually have to recreate what i had drawn on the computer.

I also played around with the base a little bit. If you look closely, you'll see some mushrooms and a dragonfly which i 3d printed to add some extra pizazz. And this was my first time using the scenic grass clumps.

Some other interesting tidbits:
  • Rather than make the horn metal like the rest of the helmet, i decided to make it bone, like it was a real unicorn horn.
  • I thought it would be fun to have the hilt wrap on the sword match her outfit. She never goes anywhere without being highly color coordinated!
  • Instead of NMM (not metalic metal) for the armor, i went with TMM (true metalic metal). I like how it turned out and think i might use this technique more often in the future.
