Dax was such an awesome dog that his absence has left a huge gaping
whole in our family. Furthermore, he has left our family (ok,
it’s me) completely unable to function without a dog underfoot.
So instead of fighting it, I went on the hunt for a puppy. After
about 4 solid days of breed research and scouring the animal shelters
and classified ads for a suitable dog, I (with the help of my good
friend Karen) found Starbuck.

Starbuck is about as cute as they come. She has a purebred mini
schnauzer for a daddy, and a pure rat terrier for a mommy. The
owners of her parents are calling the pups “rauzers”. Mom and dad
are both owned by the same family. Dad, who is less than a year
old, turned out to be ready for “action” a little sooner than his
owners anticipated, thus leading us to Starbuck. Dad has since
been fixed. That’ll show him!
Starbuck is only 5 weeks old right now, so she isn’t ready to leave her
mom yet, but we are eagerly awaiting the day when we can bring her
home. The vet says that she will be ready to begin her life with
us sometime between Aug 8 and Aug 13.
