This time I blame my dad. (Men and salsa, what did I tell you.... ) We are getting together for a family reunion in October and he started throwing out things like, "Mmmm, everyone would really love some of your salsa on some scrambled eggs for breakfast one morning" or "Oooh, some nice hot salsa sounds soooo good." He was recently diagnosed with diabetes, forcing him to give up a lot of food he really loves. My salsa recipe is still on the safe list, so how could I deny him?

Our last three batches aren't that hot, that's the way we like it around here, but I know my dad likes it super hot. Then considering that we are expecting about 50 people at the reunion, we could go through a lot of salsa really fast. I could see Scott was getting a little protective of his 10 1/2 gallons, so the only answer was to make batch number 4, and this time I really loaded it up with the jalapeños.

So now we have done a total of 30 quarts and 56 pints. That's over 14 gallons of salsa.

The photo above is of all the tomatoes, peppers and onions that went into the last batch. Andrea was having some fun playing with the produce. She even chomped down on a jalapeño once. Only once.

I can say with complete conviction that this is the last batch because the farm stand where I have been buying my tomatoes has closed down until next summer. We will just have to make due with the 14 gallons.

I'm sure they have a support group for this.

Now I understand why you have a headache.

At one point the salsa smelled so strongly it nearly made my eyes water!
